House of Snuzz trailer:

"While many doom jazz albums can tend towards the ethereal and haunting, Island Virus is grounded and sinister. Perfect for any game where unlucky investigators wander foggy seaside towns and face down horrid fish people."
- Antagonist Relations (Island Virus)

"Over 78 minutes of powerful terror-drone fit for those Halloween nights."
- Ed Pinsent, The Sound Projector (Live!)

"Peck's long-running trio the Gate, with double bassist Tom Blancarte and drummer Brian Osborne, play roiling sludge that makes Black Sabbath sound lithe and springy—it seethes, grinds, and throbs at the bottom end of the sonic spectrum."
- Peter Margasak, Chicago Reader

House of Snuzz is the new cassette from sludge jazz purveyors The Gate. Recorded during a 2018 tour in Denmark, the material on Snuzz consists of two concretized doom masses that explore dark ambient and Toftlund-style freak-outs in equal measure. "Dark Echoes" resembles the warming-up of a nihilistic troglodyte band that never quite warms up, and on "Psychedelic Rays" The Gate investigates the closed loop reanimation process. Their eighth album to date, House of Snuzz is not to be missed.

The Gate is Dan Peck (tuba and effects), Tom Blancarte (upright electric bass), and Brian Osborne (percussion). House of Snuzz is a limited-edition cassette of 100 with direct shell imprinting and original artwork by Dan Peck. The House of Snuzz video short was directed by Dan Peck with text by David Crouse. The album was recorded at Musik og Teaterhøjskolen's Mejerisal by Valdemar Sorensen on April 16, 2018, and mixed and mastered by Colin Marston at Menegroth The Thousand Caves on April 24, 2019.
