tr_🇺🇦 Oblivious to everything, heavy and sludgy free jazz with plenty of low-end. Interesting choice of instruments: tuba, upright electric bass and percussion. I didn't know who Schlippenjovi was, and sometimes I think, I still don't. Favorite track: Rembrandt von Schlippenjovi.

about

The night was cold and dark. On the table lay an unopened envelope. Suddenly, I felt a tremor, a dark presence moved through the room. In the distance, a bodiless scream of pain reverberated endlessly.

Culled from live concerts in Hannover and Brussels while on a European tour in November of 2015, "Live!" is a brutally unfiltered representation of The Gate's special brand of spontaneous composition. Dan Peck, tuba and effects; Tom Blancarte, upright electric bass; Brian Osborne, percussion.

Selected Reviews/Discography:

"If you like your jazz free and sludgy and as a friend put it recently "fucked", well you are in for a treat - a very nasty treat of the best sort."
- Guide me a Little Tape, Chuck

"In a way, Stench embodies a strain of aural nihilism that most metal bands should be jealous of. There’s no neat chord progressions or blast beats or perfectly rhythmic tremolo picking. Convention is simply suffocated in its relentless, unbounded force."
- Dan Sorrells, Free Jazz Blog, Stench
