MESH presents Round Square and Other Works, using domestic objects and junk as musical instruments, sculpture and objects of theater. MESH is Michael Evans (percussionist) and Susan Hefner (choreographer) in improvised messy happenstance, blurring the roles of musician and dancer in subversively zany work. This video uses the architecture and contents of the artists’ kitchen, bedroom, basement and living room to move from the mundane to the realm of wild imaginings. A metal dryer back becomes a fashion statement; washing machine guts double as drum and mask; untamable spoons and forks clatter out of control; metal siding elongates wobbly arms, making thunder. The sound was recorded live in action; absurd Foley sound by Michael adorns the 3rd piece. Videographer Nelson Simon is also a guest performer.

“Wackiness, brilliance, pathos… MESH is everything. Struggle, constant surprise, two masterful minds and bodies colliding in space. The humdrum, flawed, awkward, broken, becomes transformed, and a marvel to experience — powerful, hilariously fun, and wise.” – Gordon Beeferman

"There are no current living performers like Evans/Hefner and Company - as soon as you 'think' you understand them, they fly off in a different direction and leave you guessing. Once you catch up - they're gone again." -- Fast Forward

“Not only is he an expert percussionist, but he has a truly authentic sense of play -- Kathleen Supove, Classic TV, The Greatest Performing Arts Online

"Michael Evans is an amazing player of clattering junk percussion, drum kit, and his own special brand of electronics. Evans recalls the young Peter Sellers if he were attempting to make terrible fun of Spike Jones -- John Berndt

On Susan Hefner's Marrow Clamor: “an entertaining package of winning performances by two deft musicians and three talented women” -- Gus Solomons Jr., The Village Voice

“The well-produced piece was unfailingly handsome looking.” —Jennifer Dunning, The New York Times
